What are the tax implications of a Life Settlement?
Generally speaking, viatical settlement proceeds are income tax free. However, there are significant differences between states for the definition of “terminally ill”, so consult your tax advisor before proceeding with the transaction. We have also made available for your review:

Are there any other implications of a Life Settlement?
Life settlement proceeds may be deemed as taxable income and may affect certain government programs that are based upon income thresholds. Please consult your tax advisor for any impact a life settlement may have on your eligibility for various benefits. Also, you will be selling your life insurance policy. Any benefits you sell to us – access to cash values and payment of death benefits to your beneficiaries, for example – afforded through the policy will no longer be available.
Are there any costs to me for considering to sell the policy?
